    Judge Noel Hillman
Former Chief of the Office of Public Integrity

Hillman was the lead Justice Department prosecutor in the Jack
Abramoff Capitol Hill lobbying scandal. The investigation into
Jack Abramoff took a surprising turn when the Justice
Department said the chief prosecutor Hillman would step down
because he had been nominated to a federal judgeship by
President Bush. This effectively ended the Abramoff
    Investigation.

George W. Bush,  is a former member of the Executive
Committee of the Alabama Republican Party. Mark Fuller did

himself from the sentencing phase of the case, in spite of
questions about serious conflicts of interest.

    U.W. Clemons
    Birmingham Judge

Clemons is a judge in Birmingham who dismissed the first
proceedings against Siegelman with prejudice and went out of
his way to suggest he suspected inappropriate conduct on the
part of prosecutors. Clemons is the only Democratic appointee
    among the judges.

    William “Bill” Holcombe Pryor
Former Alabama Attorney General and a Federal Judge on the United
States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

William Pryor was a ferociously partisan figure and one of the
most controversial judicial nominees in recent memory; he
previously served as Alabama’s Attorney General. He used his
position to initiate a criminal investigation of Siegelman within
weeks of Siegelman’s inauguration as governor.

    Alberto Gonzales

    Former US Attorney General

The most talked-about attorney this past year by a mile,
Gonzales, 52, rose from being the grandson of illegal immigrants
to the first Hispanic attorney general of the United States.
George W. Bush appeared to be grooming the man he
affectionately calls “Fredo” for the U.S. Supreme Court.
