1.  Barack Obama rewards big donors with
plum jobs overseas
By Jeanne Cummings for Politico

He may have promised to change Washington, but President Barack
Obama is continuing one of its most renowned patronage traditions:
bestowing prized ambassadorships on big donors.

Of the nearly 80 ambassadorship nominations or confirmations since
Obama’s Inauguration, 56 percent were given to political appointees
and 44 percent have gone to career diplomats, according to records
kept by the American Foreign Service Association.

The latest nomination came this week, when Beatrice Wilkinson
Welters was nominated to serve as ambassador to the island nation
of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.

2. Possible Obama Nominee Really Is A
"Rabid Republican"
By Roger Shuler for Legal Schnauzer

Tamara Matthews Johnson, the frontrunner as the new U.S. attorney
for the Middle District of Alabama, was described as a "rabid, right-
wing Republican" in an investigative piece yesterday at Locust Fork
News-Journal.

Was the source who used this term on target? Would the Barack
Obama administration actually appoint such an individual to lead the
office that directed the Don Siegelman prosecution?

The answer to the first question, based on our research, is yes. The
answer to the second question appears to be yes--unless outraged
Democrats rise up to stop it.
