Pelosi says Rove contempt citation is
possible
By Jared Allen of the Hill
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that a federal
judge’s ruling that former White House counsel Harriet Miers has to
appear before a congressional committee could pave the way for
Congress approving a contempt citation against Karl Rove.
Earlier this week the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold the
White House's former top political aide in contempt of Congress for
refusing to appear before the committee on July 10, but before
Thursday it was unclear whether the entire House would vote on the
resolution.

Federal judge rules Bush's aides can be
subpoenaed
By Matt Apuzzso of AP/Yahoo News
WASHINGTON - President Bush's top advisers are not immune from
congressional subpoenas, a federal judge ruled Thursday in a long-
running dispute between the two political branches.
Congressional Democrats called the ruling a ringing endorsement of
the principle that nobody is above the law.

Judge Bates Rules for the House
by emptywheel
Judge Bates just issued his opinion in the Miers and Bolten contempt
case--and he ruled in favor of the House. Miers will have to appear
and Bolten will have to turn over the documents a description of the
documents he is withholding. (I guess all it took was for me to post this
post.)
This also means Rove will have to appear, as Bates threw out the
notion of "absolute immunity."

Where is Karl Rove? Part 3
Produced by Davin Hutchins & Harry Hanbury
VOICEOVER: A lot has happened since the last time ANP reported on
Karl Rove. A few weeks ago, the head of the House Judiciary
Committee, John Conyers, threatened to hold Rove in contempt for
ignoring a subpoena to appear before Congress.
REPORTER: Are you worried about the contempt charge?
