Sanchez: Karl Rove should go to jail

'Verdict' guest host David Shuster talked with Rep. Linda Sanchez,
D-Calif., about Karl Rove's refusal to testify before the House
Judiciary Committee. Sanchez is chairwoman of the Commercial and
Administrative Law subcommittee and Thursday, rejected Rove's
executive privilege claim as inadequate.

....A House subcommittee voted 7-1 Thursday to reject Rove's claim
that executive privilege freed him from an obligation to testify, leaving
open the possibility the Republican political guru will be held in
contempt.
During the hearing, Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT) revealed that Rove
was out of the country.

This morning, Karl Rove refused to appear before the House Judiciary
Committee to testify about the politicization of the Justice Department,
despite a subpoena. During the hearing, Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT)
revealed that Rove had not only skipped out of the hearing, but had
skipped out of the entire country. Watch it:

Siegelman says, "No person should be above the law. There's nothing
in the constitution that says just because you worked for the President
you get to disobey the law and don't show up for subpoenas. There is
no reason why Karl Rove should not be made to appear before
Congress."
Siegelman spent 9 months in prison for his conviction on bribery and
conspiracy charges. He was released in March while he appeals his
case to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. More paperwork is due to
the court at the end of the month. There's no time table for a decision
to be made.

Linda Sanchez, Chair of the Subcommittee to investigate Siegelman Case, reports that Rove's lawyer stated that Karl Rove will not voluntarily testify, and on July 10th he defied his subpoena.
