Much info coming out about the Siegelman
case...
by Larisa Alexandrovna of At-Largely

.....
Today we have additional confirmation that Canary (and her office)
is in the hot seat, by way of the Tuscaloosa News.

We have also learned today that Karl Rove has himself a remarkable
new ally. First, let's recap who Rove is in this saga and why he has
been subpeonaed to testify in front of Congress on July 10.

Karl Rove cut his teeth as one of the "rat-fuckers" of the Segretti
crew, who ran dirty tricks for Nixon. That should tell you everything
you need to know about what kind of sociopath this man is.

Siegelman finally contacted by DOJ's Office
of Professional Responsibility
TuscaloosaNews.com

The Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility had
been charged for some time with getting to the bottom of the many
scandals in the Alberto Gonzales DOJ (don't hold your breath),
including the allegedly politically-motivated prosecution of former
Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.

But I can report today that the OPJ finally contacted Siegelman's
attorneys on Monday, although at this point I don't know the extent or
nature of that contact.

This comes as The Los Angles Times came out with an article the
same day saying the OPJ, which is supposed to be the watchdog for
the justice department, has fallen into the typical ways of the Bush
administration, becoming more secret and less transparent than ever

Letter confirms review of Siegelman prosecution
By Jay Reeves of The Associated Press/ Al.com

A lawyer said Tuesday he wants a Justice Department review of the
prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman to focus partly on the
reasons a federal prosecutor in Montgomery stepped aside from the
case.

Siegelman attorney Vince Kilborn said he would make the suggestion
in response to a letter from the Office of Professional Responsibility
confirming it was probing allegations that the case against Siegelman
"was selective and politically motivated."

The letter, which arrived Monday, was the agency's first official
communication about the probe, he said.
