Siegelman correct to question his prosecution
TideSports.com
A blistering report this week from the Justice Department's inspector
general gives strong support to Don Siegelman's claims of political
meddling in his prosecution.
Siegelman, a Democrat and former Alabama governor, has long
claimed that politics was the driving force behind the federal
prosecution that derailed his campaign for re-election and ultimately
led to his conviction on corruption charges....
Justice Department prosecutors in Alabama have denied that politics
motivated them. However, the report from the inspector general
indicates that politics thoroughly infested the department by the time it
targeted Siegelman.
