Did Siegelman Receive Justice?

Recent Justice Department e-mails and public statements from the
key players in the Bush DOJ indicate that loyalty often was measured
by the number of Democratic politicians a Bush-appointed prosecutor
could drag into an investigation prior to election day.
Bill Pryor knows a thing or two about going after politicians.
Practically from the time he was elected attorney general and Don
Siegelman was elected governor in 1998, Pryor kept a steady
investigatory drumbeat against Siegelman.
Pryor may have moved on, from filing friend-of-the-court briefs for
George W. Bush to being appointed to the federal bench by him. The
perpetual investigations of Siegelman, though, continued.
In late March, this space examined the firings of U.S. Attorneys, the
potential politically motivated witch-hunts, the perpetual
investigations of Siegelman and noted, “Perhaps it's time to re-
examine the case of a Democratic politician pursued by the
Republican-appointed prosecutors.”
